Full Moon in Libra, April 2025
April 12 - Full Moon in Libra
Celestial Considerations:
Full Moon Square (Retroshade) Mars in Cancer
Sun Conjunct Chiron in Aries
(Retroshade) Venus direct in Pisces
The Full Moon can be treated as the point where our manifestations and intentions, set during the preceding New Moon, will have finally made it into our physical, observable reality. It is a time for surrender and observation, to take advantage of the light, and collect data that would be otherwise obscured by the dark.
Aries set the tone for our desires this cycle. Our intentions were bold, striking, and maybe even damaging to the status quo. We recognized authority based on initiative, willingness to be the one to act. The territory unchartered and expansive, equally overwhelming and enticing. We may have felt lost, but were confident nonetheless, and felt called to wish with ambition.
Now, as we approach a full moon in Libra, square (retroshade) Mars in Cancer, opposing a Sun that will be conjunct with Chiron, a host of planets in the neighboring sign of Pisces (including Venus, which will go direct shortly after the full-moon), with the North Node nearby - there is a reckoning between our most disparate qualities.
At the time of the Libra Full Moon, Venus will be transiting through the sign of Pisces, and will be turning direct shortly after the Full Moon occurs. As our emotions are heightened under the full moon, and our aesthetic preferences intensified by Venus’ transit, we may experience the reflexive urge to discard the raw desires brought up by the New Moon in Aries for being too shameful or embarrassing.
The challenge of this full moon is to witness your power without flinching, fawning, or apologizing. Can you follow your aesthetic preferences where they lead, without rejecting yourself along the way? Can you accept all parts of yourself, even while striving for more? Will you allow yourself to contain multitudes? Can your pursuit of what appeals to you exist without hierarchical defense?
Or will you default to old all-or-nothing binary thought patterns and declare yourself either an unaffected sophisticate, or anti-intellectualist brute?
To place Aries and Pisces on opposite ends of the spectrum, declaring one (Aries) naive, impulsive, and brash, and the other (Pisces) virtuous, idyllic would be an error. These signs are not in competition with one another, nor are they opposites. The cyclical nature of the zodiac directly points us to Pisces’ need for Aries’ qualities. There is no stopping point in the development of the psyche, or oneself. To embody the qualities of Pisces is not evidence of enlightenment. It’s just one more landmark on a circular path, before returning to the start.
The finer things Pisces so desires requires the kind of effort and motivation to obtain that a sign like Aries is uniquely qualified to provide - a goal that fails to benefit from shame.
You are allowed to change and grow, to take in different influences, to prioritize other values, at any time. There is no mandatory ritual, no required public declaration of allegiance to one way of being or another. It is something you are allowed to do quietly (or loudly) as feels good and right to you. To view your preferences through a series of rotating lenses is a gift, and not a punishment designed to elicit a realization of prior inferiority. There is no prize for throwing any past-self under the bus, and there is no guard keeping watch, waiting to praise you for doing so.
Consider the choices you have made this past month. Which ones served you? Which ones did not? What would you like more of? What did you feel you had too much of? Make adjustments as you like, and consider what desires may arise as we head towards our next new moon on April 27th, in Taurus. Resist the urge to speak unkindly of your past self, take what is nourishing, and leave the rest.
